Kisumu (/kiːˈsuːmuː/ kee-SOO-moo)[4] is the third-largest city in Kenya after the capital, Nairobi, and the coastal city of Mombasa. It is the third-largest city (after Kampala, Uganda and Mwanza, Tanzania) in the Lake Victoria Basin.
It’s known for lakeside viewpoints at Dunga Hill Camp and Hippo Point. The Kisumu Impala Sanctuary shelters herds of impalas and zebras. Its animal orphanage is home to wildlife like cheetahs and baboons. The city’s Kisumu Museum displays artifacts related to the people of the Nyanza Province. Southwest, Ruma National Park has tall cliffs, roan antelope and birdlife.
Set on the shore of Lake Victoria, the
largest freshwater
lake in Africa, the Kisumu Impala
Sanctuary is a peaceful, relaxing
place to enjoy the natural beauty that
abounds here.
The sanctuary hosts impalas, the rare
Sitatunga antelope as well
as big cats, buffalos, giraffes, cheetahs
and several primate species.
